Meet Duco Slooff
Meet Duco Slooff, Renewable Energy Engineer at Ventolines. Even when Duco was young he enjoyed working with technology. This started with working on various scooters and fixing things around the house. During high school, his interest in sustainability and social issues such as the energy transition grew. He enjoyed working on technical problems where parties with opposing interests are involved. This led Duco to specialize in the energy sector at TU Delft.
Duco has been working at Ventolines as a Project Engineer since April 2020. The reason he joined the Ventolines team was that he likes to participate in the actual realization of sustainable energy projects. ”From the first moment at Ventolines, I have been able to contribute to beautiful projects. The variety of clients means that you have to be flexible and constantly put yourself in the client’s shoes. This results in a steep learning curve in a challenging work environment” Duco is mainly active in the development and contracting phase of nearshore wind projects and he supports his colleagues in working out technical installation concepts for foundations and wind turbines. In addition, he is actively involved in the business development team for America and Europe.
In his spare time, Duco can be found on the water a lot, as he recently bought a sailing boat with a friend. ”Being on the water immediately gives a vacation feeling – even if it is after an intensive working day. On the other hand, it was nice to be able to watch the installation of the wind turbines of Windpark Fryslân from my own boat!”
For many years, Ventolines has been involved in the development, construction and management of onshore and offshore renewable energy projects. Think, for example, of Wind Farm the Drentse Monden and Oostermoer. Or the largest Dutch onshore wind project, Windplan Groen. We were also responsible for the development, implementation and management of Windpark Westermeerwind and the world’s largest wind farm in a lake, Windpark Fryslân.
