About this project

ECN Wind Energy Facilities B.V. (EWEF) consists of two parts. One part consists of the wind farm that became operational in 2019 with 8 Vestas V126 turbines with a total capacity of 30 MW. These commercial research turbines allow various studies and measurements to be carried out. In addition, there is a test park with a total of 9 prototype sites with a fully developed infrastructure and a total capacity of about 35 MW. This test park is rented out to manufacturers in order to test their prototypes and obtain the IEC type certificates.

EWEF was founded by research bureau ECN (now part of TNO) and owns a wind farm in the Wieringermeer which is part of the Wieringermeer Wind Farm together with the recently opened Prinses Ariane Wind Farm.

Ventolines took care of the coordination of the wind turbine contracting, power sales (PPA) and financing for EWEF. Ventolines also took care of the management of the site, HSE and contracts and gave EWEF substantial support in the field of electrical connections, wind turbines and the business case during construction. The construction works of the commercial research turbines and pavilion took place in 2018 and 2019, from the completion in 2019 Ventolines will perform the asset management and site management for EWEF.

In 2020 Ventolines advised the seller ECN in the sales process whereby the process of international market enquiry, selection and negotiation was successfully managed. In October 2020, Hamburg-based Connected Infrastructure Capital GmbH (CIC) acquired 100% of the shares in EWEF.
