Stenkalles Vind
About this project
Ventolines was involved in the development phase of the Stenkalles Vind wind farm in Lake Vänern in Sweden. Originally, the construction of Stenkalles Vind was scheduled for completion in 2026. The project involved a fully integrated team working on 18 wind turbines, each generating 6 MW.
Two Norwegian companies, Cloudberry and Hafslund, asked Ventolines to work with them on this project as we have specific expertise in building wind farms in shallow water. As with Westermeerwind and Windpark Fryslân, shallow water in combination with the vessel size restrictions based on the dimensions of the sluices present significant logistical challenges.
Hafslund, owned by the city of Oslo, is Norway’s second-largest electricity producer with over a century of experience in electrical innovation and production, generating approximately 18 TWh. The Stenkalles Vind project is an admirable initiative through which the initiators aim to establish a presence in the Swedish renewable energy market.
In Q4-2023 newsletters in the renewable energy sector reported that the Stenkalles project was denied permission to increase the size of the turbines. Whilst making use of the gathered information and developed plans, options are considered if and how to continue with this wind-on-lake project.
