Meet Chiara Poli<\/span> Reghenzi<\/span>, who finished her graduation project Power2Heat in <\/span>February<\/span> of 2023. <\/span>Can you tell us a bit about yourself? <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Of course, <\/span><\/span>I’m<\/span> 2<\/span>3<\/span> years old and<\/span> originally from Milan<\/span>, Italy. <\/span><\/span>Currently I am <\/span>pursuing my BSc in Technology, Liberal Arts and Sciences (ATLAS) at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. <\/span>I am part of the university college of University of Twente, which <\/span>follows the same liberal arts and sciences approach of <\/span>other university colleges<\/span> in the <\/span>Netherlands but<\/span> has a more technical <\/span>focus<\/span>.<\/span> My specialization is in Business Development and Sustainable Innovation, a<\/span>lthough in my free time<\/span> I enjoy learning about an array of different fields that include physics, mathematics, <\/span>behavioural<\/span> sciences, ancient history, <\/span>art, <\/span>and philosophy.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Quote 1″ _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Tekst tweede deel” _builder_version=”4.19.4″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” custom_padding=”||0px|||” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n How did you end up doing your graduation project for Ventolines? \u201cI was working on an assignment for Ventolines regarding power to heat as a part of my studies. We worked on this assignment with a group of students, and this is when I saw the opportunity for a power to heat research project on the website. I decided to see what the possibilities were, and the rest is history.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n You just finished your research; can you tell us a bit more about it? \u201cMy study was centred around power to heat: an umbrella term for technologies that use (renewable) electricity to generate useful heat for industrial processes, think electric boilers, heat pumps, … The main goal of my research was identifying how Ventolines can help industries transition to sustainable energy by using this technology. I studied a lot of theory and interviewed several industrial companies, which helped me identify the drivers and barriers of adopting power to heat in their processes.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Quote 2″ _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Tekst derde deel” _builder_version=”4.19.4″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” custom_padding=”||0px|||” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n \u201c<\/span>Previous studies and reports on power to heat were conducted before the energy crisis, when the <\/span>business <\/span>case<\/span> for power to heat was <\/span>more difficult<\/span>. The business model was not so <\/span>feasible<\/span>,<\/span> and organisations were not so willing to <\/span>implement<\/span> this technology. <\/span>Since then, the situation has really changed and currently it is much more attractive to use electronic boilers in industrial processes. Before the energy crisis, gas was viewed as <\/span>a reliable and stable source of energy but that has changed. Many people that I spoke to realized that gas is not as reliable and stable as was previously thought, so they are more <\/span>open <\/span>to <\/span>transitioning to <\/span>power to heat.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Quote 3″ _builder_version=”4.19.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Tekst vierde deel” _builder_version=”4.19.4″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” custom_padding=”||0px|||” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”]<\/p>\n What was your experience doing your gradation project at Ventolines? \u201cI really liked it and especially enjoyed coming to the office. I have always wanted to work in skyscraper, since the office is on the 25th floor of the World Trade Center in Almere I got to experience that. The view is amazing. The team was very welcoming and took the time to get me up to speed. Everyone is really an expert in their field and knows what they are talking about. We also had regular meetings with all interns and graduates, where we could share our insights and progress. All in all, there was a very professional yet friendly<\/span> atmosphere.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “I’m very happy that I ended up doing my graduation assignment with a company, because it gave me an idea of how I can apply the knowledge I’m gaining through my studies. I was able to dive into the theoretical parts while also experiencing how theory translates to real life application. De 89 windturbines met een tiphoogte van 180 meter worden momenteel van fundering tot gondel ge\u00efnspecteerd, waarna deze worden getest en in bedrijf gaan. Windturbines met een tiphoogte van meer dan 150 meter, moeten wettelijk worden voorzien van luchtvaartverlichting. Bij Windpark Frysl\u00e2n geldt dit voor de buitenste 30 windturbines. Dankzij een naderingsdetectiesysteem kan deze verlichting binnenkort \u2019s nachts worden uitgeschakeld wanneer er geen luchtvaartuigen in de buurt van het windpark zijn.<\/p> Verlichting windpark<\/strong><\/p> De windturbines hebben boven in een lamp die overdag wit licht en \u2019s nachts rood licht rondom uitstraalt. Halverwege de toren zit verlichting die \u2019s nachts continu rood licht uitstraalt. Om de overlast van de verlichting voor de omgeving te beperken, heeft Windpark Frysl\u00e2n diverse maatregelen genomen:<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>I found the topic very fascinating, more than I expected to.<\/span> Before starting, I had never really <\/span>explored the topic at depth. However, more than 35% of all <\/span>greenhouse<\/span> gas emissions in the Netherlands<\/span> are related to heat <\/span>production<\/span>, so it is a<\/span>n <\/span>important issue to tackl<\/span>e. Overall, I found it <\/span>a rather <\/span>interesting<\/span> challenge to work on, and I <\/span><\/span>enjoyed<\/span><\/span><\/span> the process.<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n<\/blockquote>\n
