The battery park stores renewable electricity, reducing peaks and troughs caused by weather-dependent production. The construction of the battery park, which will consist of standardized battery units 3.5 meters high, is expected to take around one year. It is anticipated that the first energy will be stored in the battery by the third quarter of 2025, and that the full operation of the first phase will be realised in 2026. This project will contribute to the energy transition in Flevoland and the Netherlands.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sustainable energy storage<br \/><\/strong>The Dronter Energie Opslag project is a joint initiative of FlevoBESS, GreenPowerBank Dronten, and Pure Energie, who are working together on the implementation of the first phase of the battery park. The first phase will have a storage capacity of 90 megawatts (MW) on an area of 3 hectares, located at Olsterdwarspad. The second phase, which will cover the same area, will commence at a later stage. The development area is divided into three sections, each being developed by one of the three initiators.<\/p>\n<p>The battery will be connected to the nearby <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ventolines.nl\/en\/project\/closed-distribution-system-groen\/\">Closed Distribution System Groen (GDG)<\/a>, which is already linked to several wind farms from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ventolines.nl\/en\/project\/windplan-groen\/\">Windplan Groen<\/a> and a solar park in Biddinghuizen. Thanks to this connection, excess renewable energy can be stored, leading to more efficient use of energy that would otherwise be lost during peak load on the TenneT high-voltage network.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The role of Ventolines<br \/><\/strong>Ventolines plays a key role in the construction phase of Dronter Energie Opslag. We are responsible for the engineering, contracting, and construction of shared facilities such as access roads, export cables for the connection to the GDG station, water storage, and the landscaping of the project through a green strip. Additionally, we will fully complete one of the three battery systems: namely, the system from GreenPowerBank Dronten.<\/p>\n<div class=\"group\/conversation-turn relative flex w-full min-w-0 flex-col agent-turn\">\n<div class=\"flex-col gap-1 md:gap-3\">\n<div class=\"flex max-w-full flex-col flex-grow\">\n<div data-message-author-role=\"assistant\" data-message-id=\"b5c15c97-7123-46ee-baf0-bc9c2eab4e4f\" dir=\"auto\" class=\"min-h-8 text-message flex w-full flex-col items-end gap-2 whitespace-normal break-words [.text-message+&amp;]:mt-5\" data-message-model-slug=\"gpt-4o-mini\">\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-col gap-1 empty:hidden first:pt-[3px]\">\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">\n<p>Allard van der Steege, project leader of DEO: &#8220;It is great that the construction of this initiative starts today, as it is very much needed. Due to the large-scale production of wind energy in Flevoland, a huge amount of renewable electricity is being fed into the grid here. To keep the electricity grid balanced, temporary storage of electricity is therefore essential. We can&#8217;t wait for the battery to go &#8216;live&#8217;. That will be an exciting moment.
