Impact on water quality biodiversity
TKI – ZWIMP
About this project
As an active member of the government-funded research project ZWIMP, we are focused on investigating the impact of floating solar energy on water quality and biodiversity. The goal of this project is to gain an understanding of the effects of floating solar energy in order to optimize the design and management of these systems.
To achieve this, we are conducting extensive measurements on existing solar farms floating on water. We collect data and use modeling techniques to gain a thorough understanding of impacts on water quality and biodiversity. This data will be stored in a publicly accessible database, allowing other researchers and stakeholders to access the knowledge collected.
By participating in this research project, we aim to further improve the sustainability and environmental friendliness of floating solar energy. We want to provide a science-based basis for the design and management of future projects so that they can best contribute to the energy transition without harming water quality and biodiversity.
