Sale of wind farm ECN Windenergy Facilities

Ventolines acted as exclusive financial advisor to ECN on the 100% sale of ECN Windenergy Facilities (EWEF) to German renewable energy investor Connected Infrastructure Capital (CIC).

EWEF, founded by research agency ECN (now part of TNO), is a unique wind farm because it is a combination of a operational wind farm (8 Vestas V126 turbines) and a wind farm (9 sites) with a fully developed infrastructure for testing of prototype wind turbines. This test wind farm is leased to wind turbine OEMs to test their prototypes and obtain type certificates.

Ventolines guided its client throughout the entire sale process including the sale strategy, process and proposition, negotiating and structuring of the transaction, facilitating due diligence and contracting till closing including all necessary project management, coordination and organization.

For this untypical project for renewable energy investors it was really important to tap into the right pool of investors and additionally to clearly present the wind turbine testing facility with its risks and financial characteristics at an early stage in the process. With this approach we have been able to create understanding and broad interest amongst the identified investors maximizing the likelihood of reaching a satisfactory transaction for our client.
