About this project

Location: North Sea

A research project focusing on the (future) integration of floating wind and floating solar energy is currently ongoing. The main objective of this project is to identify important regulatory and contractual obstacles that arise in the offshore integration of these two energy sources.
To achieve this goal, a thorough analysis of all relevant regulatory aspects in the Netherlands will be conducted. This will examine various aspects, such as electricity regulations, spatial planning and environmental legislation, and how they affect offshore cable pooling. It also looks specifically at the interfaces with the offshore grid operator, TenneT, while also considering bankability aspects.
The expected results of this research project will be delivered in mid-2023. These results will provide an overview of the relevant contractual and legal environment related to the offshore integration of wind and solar energy. This will address the specific challenges and obstacles in combining these two forms of renewable energy at sea.
